Team Kreate

‘Team Kreate’ entered the first ‘Marketing Industry Triathlon’ event on 10th July at Dorney Lake, Windsor. A relay team comprising the brothers Cross (Si and Brad from accounts) and Ollie Williams, with FD Steve Evans in the individual event.

Ollie arrived from Kreate USA, the American arm of promotional staffing agency Kreate, to replace Matt Nevins for the bike leg. Matt the Yank had never cycled in the UK before, nor in a city. He also realised that he was unable to change gear and stay upright at the same time on the bike he had borrowed. Quite a handicap indeed!

Simon Cross, having not swam more than a length since he was 12, started with the swim leg. He was generous to the opposition in refusing the advantages offered by wearing a wet suit, choosing instead pair of voluminous, colourful beach shorts rather than a pair of streamlined budgie smugglers. Neither was getting his head wet an option since he didn’t want to disturb his freshly gelled barnet.

Despite these handicaps, he gallantly refused the assistance of the rescue boat and finished in a respectable time, enabling Ollie and Brad to spend their time chasing the competition on the bike and run legs.

A solid first triathlon effort. The guys may even train for next year’s event!

Experiential marketing's very own ‘Peter Pan’ Steve Evans finished in just over 3 hours and won the seniors age category, sponsored by ‘Saga’
